On Nov. 10, 2016, the day before Veterans’ Day, the executive director of the Chaplaincy Endorsement Commission, Chaplain Kal McAlexander, will speak during Thursday Chapel at 11 a.m. in the Morse Event Center at the corner of Alder Street and 11th Avenue in Eugene.
Chaplain McAlexander is a retired United States Navy Chaplain with more than 27 years of service.
“As we prepare to honor and thank those brave men and women who serve our nation in the armed forces, Northwest Christian University is pleased Chaplain McAlexander will be on campus to speak with us,” said Rev. Troy Dean, NCU’s campus pastor. “Chaplain McAlexander will share his unique experience ministering to soldiers, sailors, and marines during times of war and civil strife.”
McAlexander holds a bachelors degree in Sacred Literature from Topeka College of the Ministry (Topeka, KS), a Master of Arts in Church Growth from Cincinnati Christian Seminary (Cincinnati, OH), a Master of Divinity from Cincinnati Christian Seminary (Cincinnati, OH), a Master of Arts in Strategic Studies from Air War College (Montgomery, AL), also earning his Joint Professional Military Education 1 and 2. He holds a Doctor of Ministry Degree from Fuller Theological Seminary (Pasadena, CA).
His personal military decorations include: Meritorious Service Medal (3 awards), Navy Commendation Medal (2 awards), Coast Guard Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, Coast Guard Achievement Medal, Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, and numerous unit awards, campaign and service medals. He also earned jump wings from the U.S. Army.
After Thursday’s Chapel on Nov. 10, NCU will host a luncheon to honor veterans. The luncheon will be in the banquet room on campus in Burke-Griffeth Hall across the street from the Morse Event Center.
