The Beacon Classic is a staple fundraising event for Bushnell University, and this year’s milestone tournament did not disappoint. Golfers from near and far gathered to showcase their skills and contribute to the Beacon Fund, which provides essential scholarships to ensure the Bushnell experience is within reach. The tournament featured both morning and afternoon flights, with a total of 42 foursomes participating throughout the day.

In addition to the tournament, we are thrilled to announce the upcoming Player Development Center, a new partnership between Bushnell Athletics and Pine Ridge Golf Club. Set to open in the Spring of 2025, this state-of-the-art facility will help Bushnell recruit, retain, and educate outstanding NAIA student athletes and boost the reputation of Pine Ridge Golf Club as a top golf destination in our region.
The new Center will be situated at the original Pine Ridge clubhouse, between the 12th and 14th holes. Pine Ridge will contribute to the redevelopment and maintenance of a new outdoor “short game” practice area (approx. 200 x 75 yards) that had originally served its membership as a driving range. This area will include multiple sand traps, a two-tiered green, and chipping and wedge targets. Bushnell will refurbish the interior of the clubhouse with a simulation driving range, putting green, bag room, locker rooms for both men and women, office space, public restrooms, and a spacious team room. We are invigorated by the possibilities of this project and eager to commence.
We invite everyone to learn more about the Player Development Center and how you can support this exciting initiative. Visit our website at https://bushnell.edu/golf-player-development for more information and to contribute to the project.
At the groundbreaking event in July Athletic Director Corey Anderson said, “We are beyond excited and truly blessed to collaborate and form a partnership with Pine Ridge Golf Club…that will go beyond golf and continue to make a positive impact on both of our communities.”
Bushnell President Dr. Joe Womack said, “We are excited for what this opportunity and partnership means for the future of Bushnell University golf and the excellent youth programs already underway at Pine Ridge Golf Club.”
“This highly anticipated partnership is rooted in community,” said Bushnell Director of Golf Larry Watts. “There is no denying the hand of God has guided these two entities to a unique relationship. That is what Jesus is all about and I’m humbled by the interest and support behind the facility. Pine Ridge is a friendly place, where Bushnell feels at home.”
We are eager to show you our new home and tell you about our plans. Please contact the University Advancement office at 541-684-7318 or email advancement@bushnell.edu to schedule a meeting with one of our team.
