Bushnell Athletics Recognized for Marketing Excellence

Complete Publications Contest Results

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The NAIA-Sports Information Directors Association (NAIA-SIDA) recently announced their annual publications contest results and the Bushnell athletic communications office was honored for work across multiple disciplines in publication and media contests. In all, Bushnell was honored seven times, leading the Cascade Collegiate Conference.

The team of Nick Askew, Assistant Athletic Director for Communications, and Kelsey Segren, Coordinator for Athletic Marketing and Communications, combined to record six awards, with Segren earning a career-best five awards. She placed three season highlight videos in the top five with the Women’s Volleyball Season Highlights taking First Place. The Men’s Soccer Season Highlights followed in second place and the Men’s Basketball Season Highlights took fourth. Awards were also earned for the men’s basketball schedule poster and a volleyball watch party splash page (pictured above). Segren has now earned 11 awards in her four years with the Beacons and claimed a First-Place plaque for the first time.

Askew, a member of the NAIA-SIDA for 24 years, has earned 68 contest awards, including five first-place honors. This year he was recognized in the Dr. Jack Bell Writing Contest for his 2025 Baseball Season Preview story.

The final award earned by Bushnell was given to the KWVA broadcast team of Charles Martindale and Ty Goss, who earned fourth-place in the Call of the Year contest for their description of the Beacon Baseball walk-off victory over St. Martins.
