Beacon Women Crush Records in Arizona

RESULTS

BUCKEYE, Ariz. – The Bushnell women’s golf team closed the Firestorm Fall Invitational on Wednesday with the best round in school history and in the process finished off the best three-round tournament of all-time at Verrado Golf Club.

Bushnell shot a combined 319 in the third round, breaking 320 for the first time ever and besting last season’s 324 for the best round in school history by five strokes. This gave the Beacons a three-round tournament total of 995 as they broke 1000 for the first time and broke a school record which had stood for 15 years, by 35 shots.

Wednesday’s round including two players breaking 80 as sophomore Hailey Smith tied for the sixth-lowest score in history at 76 and junior Jada Richwine shot a 79.

The Beacons excellent closing round allowed them to leap over Southern Oregon University into tenth-place for the tournament, beating the Raiders by eight strokes.

Richwine led the Beacons with a solid three-round total of 81-83-79—243 to take 35th place. Hailey Smith followed in 37th (83-86-76—245).

Also golfing for Bushnell were Kylee Smith in 43rd (84-88-81—253), Morgan Schlesinger in 47th (85-86-88—259), and Jaylee Hicks in 48th (85-92-83—260)

UP NEXT: The Beacons will be back in action for the spring half of the season, beginning April 13 at the Warner Pacific Invitational.
