The Northwest Christian University Forensics Team recently competed in a two-day speech and debate tournament at Oregon State University against experienced teams from throughout the Northwest.
Two NCU orators received novice speaker awards from the tournament judges. Samantha Ross, freshman elementary education major form Benicia, California, received a 2nd place Novice Speaker Award, and Luke Janus, a freshman double majoring in Biology and Bible Theology from Jacksonville, Florida, was the 3rd place novice speaker. Allison Boxell, a senior Communications major from Aurora, Oregon, also competed in the tournament.
“I am proud of Samantha, Luke, and Allison,” said former NCU Forensics Coach Doyle Srader, Ph.D. “For all three students, it was their first season of competition and at each speech and debate tournament they represented the highest ideals of our university. The experience will serve them well in the classroom, church, and the workplace.”
The OSU tournament marked the end of the season for the NCU Forensics Team that began with a series of tournaments beginning before Thanksgiving.
