Eugene, Ore. — As Northwest Christian University (NCU) prepares for the 2015 fall semester, the school is expecting the highest overall enrollment in its 120-year history.

The 750 students expected to matriculate this fall is 45 more than the previous high set last year. The expected-enrollment for 2015 represents a six percent increase from last year and a 53-percent increase from 2005.

“To set a new school-record for enrollment is a good indication of the progress made by this institution,” said NCU president Dr. Joseph Womack. “Over the years we have invested heavily in our campus and academic programs, and it’s exciting when more and more students want to be a part of the NCU community.”

The record-setting enrollment includes 134 new undergraduate students, who represent the states of Oregon, California, Washington, Idaho, Colorado, Hawaii, Nevada, Florida and Arizona, as well as Canada. The incoming students bring extensive experience in leadership, volunteering, church involvement, and missionary work.

NCU has also seen significant growth in its adult degree programs (ADPs), which include accounting, teacher education and the new-for-this year Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Since 2001, enrollment in NCU’s ADPs has increased by 25 percent.

Enrollment in NCU’s ADPs and graduate schools have benefitted from distance and online learning options. Earlier this month, Best Schools ranked NCU third on its list of The Top-10 Online Colleges in Oregon.

“The online platform is an accommodating and accessible way for students who are working full-time or supporting a family to advance their education. NCU takes great pride in providing these opportunities, and its nice to be recognized for doing that well,” said Womack.
