President Womack Presents Award for Education & Schools

joePresident Joe Womack was an award presenter at the 12th Annual Volunteer of the Year Award Luncheon, organized by The Register-Guard and United Way of Lane County.

The luncheon is part of the Community Leaders Together program, focused on volunteerism. Three finalists within eight categories are selected from hundreds of nominations honoring individuals and teams who serve as a volunteer.

Naoko Manabe was recognized as the volunteer finalist for the Education & Schools Category. The Early Childhood Program nominated Manabe for her volunteer service at First Place Kids. She was one of three category nominees, joined by Terry Beyer for her work with the Springfield Education Foundation and Sue Brown for her work with SMART (Start Making A Reader Today).

“It’s an honor to be part of the Community Leaders Together program,” said Womack. “As an institution that provides an educational experience that champions opportunity for service, we celebrate the occasion to recognize and appreciate individuals who exemplify a life inspired in purpose and action.”

The Community Leaders Together program has recognized more than 730 individuals and groups over the past 12 years.
