Long-Time Educator Picked to Lead Teacher Education Program

IMG_8986EUGENE, Ore.—- Kathy Ditommaso Owen, M.A. is the new director of the undergraduate and graduate Teacher Education Program at Northwest Christian University.

“Kathy Owen has extensive experience and a deep passion for teaching,” said Dennis Lindsay, Dr. Theol., and Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Faculty at NCU. “We are pleased she is leading NCU’s Teacher Education Program.”

Since 2012, Owen was the principal at Twin Oaks Elementary School in School District 4J, in Eugene. Previously, she had been a classroom teacher for 20-years.

“NCU has an outstanding reputation among educators as a university that producing strong teachers,” Owen said.  “I am pleased to be working with our talented faculty to educate our students to become the kind of educators who inspire their students to have the passion to learn today and always.”

Owen earned a master of education degree, with a specialization in early childhood education, and bachelor of arts degree in education from Western Oregon University
