Northwest Christian University has signed an articulation agreement with Sumner College-Portland that creates an opportunity for graduates of the college’s Associate Degree Nursing program to enroll in NCU’s Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing program ready to take classes in the major.
“NCU is pleased to partner with Sumner College to provide its RNs and alumni with a pathway to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing,” said Joseph D. Womack, Ed.D, president of NCU. “NCU’s RN to BSN program is a workforce development initiative that brings two excellent nursing programs together to educate students to improve the quality of life and healthcare throughout Oregon.”
The NCU RN to BSN program is a 30-semester credit program consisting of 10 eight-week classes and is taught online by NCU faculty and adjunct professors with years of professional health care experience and appropriate academic credentials. RN (ADN) graduates can graduate from NCU in as little as 10 months.
“Sumner College believes it is in the best interest of our graduates and of the communities they will practice in to have opportunities for continued education leading to a BSN,” said Joanna Russell, Sumner College President. “We are pleased to present NCU’s RN to BSN program to our graduates and are confident that this relationship between our institutions and PeaceHealth will have a positive impact on healthcare in this region.”
NCU’s RN to BSN program was founded in partnership with PeaceHealth in fall 2015 to offer a regionally accredited program designed for recent graduates of registered nursing programs, and more experienced registered nurses, who want to earn a bachelor of nursing degree. In addition to PeaceHealth, NCU has similar articulation agreements with Lane Community College, Linn-Benton Community College and Samaritan Health Services.
NCU’s RN to BSN program is directed by NCU Associate Professor Linda Veltri, Ph.D. The third cohort of NCU’s RN to BSN students will graduate in December 2017.
