Northwest Christian University and Treasure Valley Community College’s Nursing Program in Ontario, Oregon, have signed an articulation agreement that creates a pathway for graduates of the community college’s registered nursing program to enroll in NCU’s Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science of Nursing (RN to BSN) program ready to take classes in the major.
“NCU is pleased to partner with Treasure Valley Community College to offer graduates of the college’s registered nurse program an opportunity to enroll in NCU’s RN to BSN program,” said Joseph D. Womack, Ed.D, president of NCU. “We look forward to working together to improve the quality of life and healthcare in eastern Oregon and in the rest of the state.”
Accredited by the Council on Collegiate Nursing Education, the NCU RN to BSN is a 30-semester credit program consisting of 10 eight-week classes that are taught online by NCU faculty and adjunct professors with years of professional health care experience and appropriate academic credentials. TVCC’s RN graduates can graduate from NCU with a BSN in as little as 10 months.
“TVCC is excited about adding another partner to help students earn their BSN degree locally,” said TVCC President Dana Young. “With increasing demand for nurses who have bachelor degrees, NCU’s program will allow students to work and pursue degrees at the same time. Being able to keep quality nurses in our community long-term is critical to serving our healthcare needs, especially in rural communities.”
Directed by NCU Associate Professor Linda Veltri, Ph.D., NCU’s RN to BSN program was founded in partnership with PeaceHealth in fall 2015 to offer a regionally accredited program designed for recent graduates of registered nursing programs and more experienced registered nurses who want to earn a bachelor of nursing degree. NCU has similar articulation agreements with Lane Community College, Linn-Benton Community College, Sumner College-Portland and Samaritan Health Services.
The third cohort of NCU RN to BSN students will graduate in December 2017.
NCU also offers an online Master of Science in Nursing – Nurse Leadership in Health Systems open to nurses who have earned a BSN. The first cohort of MSN students will begin classes in spring 2018
