Team Oregon Motorcycle Safety Program recognized Dave Quirk of Veneta for its Rookie Instructor of the Year award Saturday, November 10 in Salem. The award honors a first-year instructor who has distinguished him or herself among peers outstanding energy, enthusiasm and excellence in teaching.
Team Oregon Director Aria Minu-Sepehr points out, “Teaching with Mr. Quirk is certainly not like teaching with a rookie. He has a fantastic grasp of what it means to be a safe, effective and efficient Team Oregon instructor.” Quirk is also well known as an assistant professor in business and management at Northwest Christian University in Eugene.
Quirk taught 14 safety courses – more than 150 new motorcycle riders – in his inaugural year as an instructor. “Dave is eager to learn, a positively buoyant influence on the students and is continually improving his delivery on the range,” said Minu-Sepehr.
Team Oregon is a collaboration between the Oregon Department of Transportation and Oregon State University. More than 1,500 rider training courses are offered at 25 locations statewide February – November. For more information, visit the Team Oregon website or call 800-545-9944.
