EUGENE, Ore. – Bushnell University is proud to announce that the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program has received final program approval from the Oregon State Board of Nursing, effective until January 2025. Additionally, the ABSN program has also been granted permission to increase enrollment to up to 32 students per cohort beginning in the fall, enabling more students to pursue a career in nursing.
“We are thrilled to receive this final program approval and grateful for the opportunity to expand our ABSN program,” said Dr. Gayle Roux, the Interim Dean for Bushnell’s School of Nursing. “Our dedicated faculty and staff are committed to providing the highest quality education and clinical experiences for our students. We look forward to continuing to prepare the next generation of nursing leaders to improve health outcomes and decrease health inequities.”
In addition to program approval and the increased cohort size, the School of Nursing will begin its expansion into PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center University District in the fall as well. Early June is the official move-in day for Bushnell to begin preparing the space for classrooms, offices, and simulation labs. This partnership will allow students to gain valuable clinical experience in one of the region’s leading healthcare providers, preparing them for success in their future careers.
“PeaceHealth is proud to partner with Bushnell University to further develop the local healthcare workforce,” said Heather Wall, PeaceHealth Oregon network’s Chief Nursing Officer. “We are happy to support their nursing school expansion and to offer financial assistance for future graduates.”
Accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Bushnell’s School of Nursing is proud to offer an exceptional nursing program that prepares students for success in their careers and makes a positive impact in the community. We look forward to welcoming new students to our ABSN program in the fall term and expand career opportunities for our students to find their calling in the field of nursing.
As the demand for healthcare professionals continues to grow, Bushnell University’s ABSN is well-positioned to meet the needs of students and the healthcare industry alike. With the programs accreditation and expansion into PeaceHealth, students can be confident in their education and preparedness for a rewarding career in nursing.
