Three Signature Community Events Announced for Fall 2023 

EUGENE, Ore. – Bushnell University is proud to present an exciting lineup of signature community events this fall, continuing its commitment to fostering community engagement, supporting student scholarships, and recognizing outstanding ethical leaders.

Kids Dash & Carry the Torch Community 5K

On Sunday, August 20, 2023, the 2nd annual Kids Dash & Carry the Torch Community 5K will take place at the picturesque Dorris Ranch in Springfield, Oregon. The event will commence at 4:00 p.m. with the Beacon Alumni women’s and men’s races, followed by the kids dash at 5:30 p.m. and the community 5K at 5:45 p.m. Participants can register for $25, while children under 12 can join the kids dash for free. All proceeds from registration fees and donations will be directed to the Beacon Fund, which provides crucial financial aid to student-athletes at Bushnell University. Nearly 60% of traditional undergraduate students at Bushnell benefit from Beacon Fund tuition assistance.

The Carry the Torch 5K event is open to both runners and walkers and provides a family-friendly atmosphere in an inviting natural space. Throughout the race, attendees can enjoy various attractions, including Sweet Bay Shave Ice, the TrackTown USA Kids Club passport stamp booth, and the Hot Tees Apparel pop-up shop. Hot Tees will offer specialized event apparel, along with customized Bushnell gear available for purchase through their screen-printing shop.

Beacon Classic Golf Tournament 

On Friday, September 8, 2023, Bushnell University will host the 29th annual Beacon Classic Golf Tournament at Shadow Hills Country Club in Junction City, OR. As the second largest fundraiser for the Beacon Fund for Student Scholarships, this all-inclusive event will provide participants with an unforgettable experience. The tournament pricing includes the cart, continental breakfast, and a hot BBQ lunch. With approximately 200 golfers expected to attend, foursome participants can choose flight times from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Evening of Tribute: The Beacon Awards

On Thursday, November 16, 2023, Bushnell University will host its largest signature event of the year, the 14th annual Evening of Tribute: The Beacon Awards. Held at Venue 252, this prestigious event organized by Bushnell University’s Center for Leadership & Ethics aims to honor the Beacons of today and invest in the Beacons of tomorrow. The event brings together like-minded ethical leaders from the community to recognize and celebrate three exemplary ethical leaders and organizations, each to be presented with a Beacon Award for wisdom, faith, and service.
