ALMA has joined the team at the Kellenberger Library at Northwest Christian University as its new integrated library system, according to Steve Silver, M.L.S., the library’s director. ALMA, a cloud-based software system, replaces Voyager, a software system that has met the library’s needs for many years. Both are Ex Libris products, a leader in library software.
“We welcome ALMA to the team and will use its capabilities to streamline library operations,” Silver said. “Students and patrons will not notice a big change, but from a back office perspective, we expect staff workflows and processes to be more efficient and integrated, allowing us to better meet student needs whether in the library or off campus. ALMA also offers tools for us to more easily assess library usage to determine future needs for students, faculty, and patrons.”
In addition, Silver noted that an anonymous student donor has given the library a copy of the Historical Dictionary of Kierkegaard’s Philosophy by Julia Watkin. Published by Scarecrow Press in 2001, the book was donated in honor of Mick Bollenbaugh, Ph.D., an NCU professor of Philosophy and Biblical Studies.

NCU’s library first opened in 1895. The present library building opened in 1957 and was remodeled in 1995. It provides facilities for research, technology and study in a comfortable “living room” atmosphere in addition to extensive online resources.
