Northwest Christian University will maintain regular work hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Mon., Aug. 21, 2017, during the solar eclipse.
More vehicle traffic is expected in the area due to the increased number of people coming to Oregon to experience the eclipse. Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to allow enough to time travel to and from campus, keep their supervisors or coaches informed about their travel status, and if they choose to observe the eclipse, to use the utmost care and safety.
The eclipse will begin at 10:15 a.m. on Monday and last until 10:25 a.m. Depending on cloud cover and the weather, Eugene-Springfield is expected to experience more than 95% totality, meaning that for up to two minutes the moon will block the sun and become a dark orb. The sun’s glowing corona outlines the moon.
