Hoffman is Joined By Entertainment Exec. José Behar
Northwest Christian Alumnus Todd Hoffman, star of Discovery’s Gold Rush reality television show, will be in interviewed by Keith Potter ‘84 D.D. ‘11, NCU’s Vice President for Advancement, during Chapel on Tues., Feb. 6, 2018, at 11 AM in NCU’s Morse Event Center. Chapel is open to the public and there is no cost to attend. Hoffman attended NCU from 1987 to 1988. He was a member of the men’s basketball team.
“NCU played an important role in my formation,” said Hoffman, who lives in Sandy, Oregon. “I am looking forward to speaking at Chapel and meeting with student groups to share my faith experience through the successes and challenges of being a gold miner and a reality television personality.”
Gold Rush follows the gold mining operations of various family-run mining companies mostly in Alaska, and the Klondike region of Dawson City, Yukon, Canada. The show also followed Hoffman and his company, 316 Mining, prospecting in Oregon and North and South America. During the past few seasons the show has focused on the competition and tense relationship between Hoffman and fellow miner Parker Schnabel and his crew.
According to the web site TV By The Numbers, when Gold Rush: Alaska debuted in 2010, it was the most-watched Friday night television program in the United States among males aged 18 to 49 and women aged 25 to 54. In its second season, Gold Rush continued to hold Friday’s top rating with men aged 18 to 49. In its eighth season, Gold Rush continues to be one of Discovery’s most watched shows and anchors the network’s reality programming.
Joining Hoffman at NCU is José Behar, Founder & CEO of ZÜM Media. Behar has produced popular television shows including Leverage and The Librarians.
