Graduates of Central Oregon Community College’s Registered Nurse program now have a pathway to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Northwest Christian University. COCC RN graduates can immediately enroll in NCU’s RN to BSN online classes.
“We are excited to offer Central Oregon Community College RN graduates the opportunity to earn a BSN though Northwest Christian University’s growing RN to BSN program,” said Joseph D. Womack, Ed.D, president of NCU. “Our administration and faculty are pleased to partner with COCC as we work together to improve healthcare throughout Oregon.”
NCU’s RN to BSN Program is a 30-semester credit program consisting of 10 eight-week classes that are taught online by NCU faculty and adjunct professors who have years of professional health care experience and appropriate academic credentials. Accredited by the Council on Collegiate Nursing Education, NCU’s RN to BSN can be completed by COCC RN graduates in as little as 10 months.
“We are very proud of our nursing program at Central Oregon Community College,” said Dr. Shirley Metcalf, president of COCC. “Our program and our graduates have been serving this region for more than 60 years. This agreement provides another opportunity for our graduates.”
In addition to the new agreement with COCC, NCU has similar agreements with Lane Community College, Linn-Benton Community College, PeaceHealth, Samaritan Health Services, Sumner College-Portland and Treasure Valley Community College.
NCU’s RN to BSN program was founded in partnership with PeaceHealth in fall 2015 to offer a regionally accredited program designed for recent graduates of registered nursing programs and more experienced registered nurses who want to earn a bachelor of nursing degree. NCU Associate Professor Linda Veltri, Ph.D., is the program’s director.
The fourth cohort of NCU RN to BSN students will graduate in May 2018.
NCU also offers an online Master of Science in Nursing – Nurse Leadership in Health Systems open to nurses who have earned a BSN. The first cohort of MSN students will begin classes in spring 2018
