Summertime is Mission Time for NCU Students

NCU student playing with a child.Four NCU Missions Teams, comprise of more than 40 students and staff, will leave to spend part of their summers in Cambodia, China, Mexico, and Puerto Rico.

“NCU has long standing relationships with ministries and organizations in Cambodia and Mexico,” said Troy Dean M.A., NCU’s campus pastor and an assistant professor. “China and Puerto Rico are new missions for NCU this year.”

In Cambodia, the NCU Mission team will support church planting in rural villages in northwest Cambodia (former Khmer Rouge territory), as well as partner with and encourage organizations such as Agape International Mission and Rapha House who are fighting human trafficking specifically of prepubescent girls. This is NCU’s eighth mission trip to Cambodia.

NCU Mission Team will partner with Puente de Amistad in Tijuana, Mexico. This will be NCU’s 10th year ministering in AIDS hospices, men’s and women’s drug rehabilitation centers, orphanages, and impoverished neighborhoods.

The NCU Team traveling to China will work with NCU alumni organizing English-language clubs for Chinese university students, including at Macau University.

The teams traveling to Cambodia, China, and Mexico will leave the week of May 14th.

Typically an NCU Mission Team serves with Villa Esperanza in Nicaragua, but due to safety concerns, NCU students will now travel to Puerto Rico to work in church ministries serving Hurricane Maria victims. The Puerto Rico mission team will leave in June.

Also, during Spring Break’18, NCU sent 17 students and staff to Houston, Texas to work with disaster relief teams supporting victims of Hurricane Harvey.
