EUGENE, Ore. – For the second time in his career, senior Center Spencer Hoffman has been named the NAIA Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, as announced by the association on Tuesday.
Hoffman had a huge weekend for the Beacons as they won both of their games on the Washington CCC road swing, defeating Northwest (101-93) and Evergreen State (97-81). He averaged 28 points and 16.5 rebounds per game over the weekend while shooting 76% from the field.
In the win over Northwest, Hoffman played 39 minutes, scoring 26 points on 13-for-16 shooting, adding 12 rebounds for his eighth double-double of the season.
Hoffman nearly had complete double-doubles in each half against Evergreen, posting 16 points and nine rebounds over the first 20 minutes along with 14 points and 12 rebounds in the final frame. It was the second 30/20 game in school history and first in six years. His 21 rebounds were a career-high and just two shy of the Beacon single-game record.
This second career honor comes 13 months after his first, which was also after a weekend of dominance against Northwest and Evergreen. This is the fourth NAIA National Player of the Week honor for Bushnell men’s basketball and the first this season for any Bushnell student-athlete.
The Beacons (13-9, 10-6) return home this weekend and will have a big test on their hands Friday night when they tip off against Lewis-Clark State College (16-6, 14-2) at 7:30 pm.
