Mentors & Mentees Gather For Annual Luncheon

CLE Mentor Luncheon 4-21-2016-108Forty students, mentors, and advisory board members participating in Northwest Christian University’s Center for Leadership & Ethics program gathered for an end of the semester luncheon in the Burke-Griffeth Banquet Room.

During the school year, 16 students were paired with community leaders who served as mentors.  The students and their mentors met regularly throughout the year to discuss school, careers, and life in general.

“I want to thank my mentors, George and Peggy Gittins, retired educators, for their thoughtfulness, generosity, and wisdom,” said NCU junior, Marya Gogoleva, a business major, from Chelny, Russia, who spoke to the group.  “They have become part of my family.”

Don Gulbrandsen is the Development Director, at ShelterCare, a Eugene nonprofit organization that serves the mentally ill, homeless and those with traumatic brain injuries. He said, “ Being part of the CLE mentorship program makes me feel hope for tomorrow.  NCU students are going to change the world!”

Established in 2005, the mission of NCU’s Center for Leadership & Ethics is to equip and inspire ethical leaders by providing faith-integrated mentoring for students and alumni.
